Needling your delicate skin sounds scary at first, but with a derma roller it’s not a problem at all. It’s actually the best way to stimulate collagen and elastin production as the micro needles stimulate or puncture the skin. The natural healing process which is been activated through the “wounding” does wonders for your skin, revealing smooth and rejuvinated skin with a reduction of lines and wrinkles as well as a tighter feeling.  To me this was the holy grail to get rid of my dull winter skin, so I could glow just in time for Christmas.

What size needle and what brand do I need?

There are so many brands of derma roller out there with different lenghts of needle. I can assure you that it doesn’t matter which brand you use. I got my 1.0mm roller from amazon for under 10€ and I’m really happy with it.

Nevertheless, the length of needle is very importan. Skin dermatologists say that everything under 0,5mm can’t go deep enough into the epidermis. So if you want your skin to produce more collagen and elastin, you must get at least a 0,5mm roller for your skin.

If you want to get rid of stretch marks, scars and pigmantation issues, a 1,5mm roller is the best. Everything which is higher than 1,5mm is too harsh on your skin, according to dermatologists.

Very important is to always sanitze your derma roller before and after every use so you don’t get any infections. Do you have any experience with derma roller so far? I did it only twice and can see a difference already in my skin. It’s much softer and more radiant than before. Good luck and have a great holiday season!

As summer is already over and fall just around the corner, I wanted to try out some cute nail art ideas. Warm colours like warm brown hues, oranges like “aurora red” by Pantone or cool greens like “Cypress” by Pantone are in trend this season. Here is my take on cute nail designs for autumn:

Fall design Turkey 🙂

Fall design trees

which is your favourite design? Do you like nail art like this? Often, I’m just too busy to paint my nails, but when I have a minute, I’ll do it 🙂 I hope I could inspire you.

As I told you in my previous post, I received a 4-weeks supply of Occó the beauty drink to test and try out for you.

Here is what it really did for me and what I think of the “beautifying” drink:

First of all, I really liked the taste. I heard other people say they didn’t like, but it kind of reminded me of a German drink called “Rotbäcken”, it has a nice berry flavour and every morning, I was really looking forward to have my little beauty-breakfast juice.

I must say that I didn’t notice a glow in my face or more radiant skin, as other testers did, but that’s maybe because I’m currently on a medicine called “aknenormin”, which fights acne and dries out the skin a lot.

What I did notice though, is that my hair and nails have grown much quicker than usual! My hair grew 3 cm that month (they usually grow only1-2cm a month) and my nails weren’t that brittle, felt much stronger and grew a bit so that I don’t need my fake nails anymore 😀

Although my skin cleared up, I can’t say whether the drink did something for my acne, because I took the medicine. Because I don’t have any wrinkles yet, I also can’t say if the anti-ageing properties helped my skin.

All in all, it is a nice, natural berry flavoured drink with lots of vitamins which is definitey good for your health. For me personally, it helped a bit with hair growth and although I think it doesn’t do any miracles, turning a not-so good looking person into a beauty queen, it won’t definitely harm you. Nevertehless, if you eat a healthy diet with los of vegs and fruits, you might get the same results for far less money… 😉

Beautifying vitamins contained:

Vitamin A – for thicker hair
Vitamin C – for brighter, more radiant skin
Vitamin E – to help skin cells heal
Biotin – for serious hair growth
Zinc – helps fight acne and other skin disorders/irritations
Copper – repairs damaged skin
Selenium – helps heal damaged skin
Niacin – fights aging

Conclusion-You can also get all these vitamins in a healthy diet, so you don’t necessarily need to splurge on those drinks. Nevertheless, if you want to splurge and do yourself something good, go for it-it won’t do any harm 😉

I’ve been recently asked a lot about hair care tips, hair growth and my hair in general, so I thought it’s about time to share with you my secrets how I maintain my long hair. I’ve also written a post in the past about how to grow your hair when it’s shorter. You can read it here

I like my hair most when it's natural-wavy

I like my hair most when it’s natural-wavy

My natural hair colour is a medium brown and I like to lighten it up with lots of warm highlights. Because of the bleach and my thick, wavy hair texture, my hair is always very dry. So I’ve tried and tested lots of hair care products for dry hair to maintain its health. Here are my current favourites:

What I'm using on my hair when it's dry

What I’m using on my hair when it’s dry

These are my goodies from Germany- if you’re not from Germany you might find these on the internet. The pink bottle contains a moisturising treatment which is all natural and organic, with aloe vera and hibiscus. I spray it into my hair whenever it fells dry or just to give my hair a nice smell and to freshen it up throughout the day. Also from the organic brand Alverde is the moisturising butter in the front which contains avocado. I use this especially in winter when the spray treatment is just not quite moisturising enough-this definitely is ;)The clear bottle in the middle contains nettle water which I every once in a while to massage my scalp. If you want to grow your hair a good scalp massage is very important because the health of your hair starts with the roots! Last but not least the good old coconut oil which you can find in almost every supermarket. It’s perfect to moisturise your dry ends, it’s all natural, makes your hair look super shiny and smells aaamazing. I also use this as a deep conditioning hair mask every now and then.

Hair products for under the shower

Hair products for under the shower

These are more international products. I use them under the shower- oops, not the phyto 7 cream though 😉 This one is just another awesome leave-in treatment for the hair, contains 7 different plant extracts and acts as a daily moisturiser- I couldn’t live without it! Eco Awesome by TIGI is my favourite shampoo. It’s a moisturising shampoo with white tea and without any sulfates. When you want to grow your hair you must make sure that there are no sulfates in your shampoos because they are very harsh on your hair. The small bottle in the middle combined with the bottle on the right are my favourite conditioners: Tommy Guns Jasmine, wild nettle & sweet almond conditioner smells amazing and is perfect for thirsty and coloured hair. Another favourite is the Aussie 3 minute miracle reconstructor for damaged hair which contains aloe vera and mint and smells just like bubble gum- I love it! In the front you can see my favourite hair masks: The rainforest moisture butter by the bodyshop is all natural and leaves my hair feeling super soft and silky. The phytocitrus mask by Phyto is a great favourite because it contains proteins that help strengthen and rebuild brittle, dry and coloured hair.

phew this was a lot! Are you using any of these products and do you like them?  If  you want me to do an in-depth review of any of these products, please let me know 🙂

Trendwatch: Berry lips

Trendwatch: Berry lips

This fall is all about the berry lip trend. Dark and bold berry lips are versatile and classic, plus it’s flattering on every skin tone. It’s also super easy to pull off: You only need a lipstick in a nice berry shade that suits your skin tone (go lighter for fair skin and chose a deep berry hue if you have darker skin).
Simplicity is key whenever you’re wearing a bold lip, so keep the rest of the face simple with a tinted moisturiser or a moisturising BB cream and a neutral eye look with just a bit of brown liner and maybe some neutral eyeshadow in soft plum, taupe or ashy brown shades. By doing this you can be sure that your lip will be the centre of attention this season!

Extra tip:

  • The dark shade of your lips can wash you out a bit, so make sure you wear some blush on the top of your cheeks so you don’t look to pale.
  • If you’ve picked a shade that’s too dark or purple, take your favorite red lipstick and mix the two. It will leave you with a shade that’s much easier to wear.
  • Wear your berry hue with confidence! 😉

Mazorin range

Mazorin range

A post about autumn/winter skin care for men and women was highly requested, since the skin is much drier and just needs that extra care in those cold months.

Today, I’m starting with a simple but effective autumn/winter skin care regimen for men, which my boyfriend has kindly reviewed for you. If you are female, this could be the perfect line to get your man into if you want him to have soft and hydrated skin 🙂

It’s by a new UK brand called Mazorin which was developed for “urban professionals” who have a gruelling lifestyle and need something uplifting which takes care of their dehydrated and stressed skin.

The current range exists of the 3 following hero products:

  • Working late eye serum*
  • Pre-meeting face re-vamp*
  • Optimal face maintenance*

My boyfriend tested these products and here is his honest opinion:

First of all, the line feels very luxury and masculine. I like the urban business feel of it and the matt, understated packaging adds to this. For me personally, the best product was the optimal face maintenance, which is a face moisturizer packed with
oxidants to protect your skin from the environment,
peptides which are very moisturising, as well as Vitamins to give your skin that extra kick,
 6. My skin felt very soft afterwards and it also protects me from aging, so I love it.

Pre-meeting face re-vamp is
gel and working late eye serum is a roll on for your eyes. They are very handy for traveling and reduce
signs of fatigue because of the caffeine and hyaluronic acid in it. I would recommend all of these products if you have stressed, dry skin like me, although I must say that the face revamp is a bit hard to use at the beginning and it feels a bit sticky.

He will use this skin care throughout autumn/winter. Do we have any guy opinions here? What are you using?

The Mazorin line is available at  www.mazorin.com

xoxo, Kim.
